Our Telco department provides advisory services on regulatory requirements for the tele-communication industry in Malaysia, domestic laws governing internet commerce and software licensing.

Having been involved in the Telco industry as a very senior executive, our Telco Consultant is experienced in all aspects of regulatory policy and compliance. Positioning a leading Telco company as the sole opinion leader in the communications and multi-media industry is one of his challenges besides holding the responsibility in developing the corporate regulatory strategy for the group, overseeing all regulatory issues arising and providing regulatory advice within the group. In essence, providing legal and regulatory advice based on solutions strategy and the vetting of legal and regulatory documents and agreements is his forte. Advice is given not based on legal perspective alone but taking into account commercial and strategic outlook of the matters involved.

His another experience includes working internally and externally on industry development matters and lobbying for Telco and company issues with the Ministry of Energy Communication and Multimedia and monitoring interconnection obligations with Telekom Malaysia and other Telco service providers. He had also managed the disposal of Time Cel Sdn. Bhd. (the mobile division) to Maxis Communications Berhad. At Legal and Regulatory MIMOS Internet Services, MIMOS Berhad, he undertook the responsibility of handling the legal and regulatory matters of MIMOS Internet Services “JARING” which encompassed drafting and vetting of a wide range of ISP, Information Communication Technology and Software Agreements. The Terms and conditions of the company were wholly revamped and lawyers of documentations and process were rectified to strengthen the commercial interests of JARING. He was also responsible for the negotiation of the LOA and tenders of international IPLC contracts with companies like Telekom Malaysia Teleglobe and Maxis and became the Pro Tem Secretary to the Applications Service Provider Association (currently known as VoIP Operators).

His stint in Digi Telecommunications Sdn. Bhd included providing legal solutions to a wide variety of commercial, legal, regulatory and regulatory strategy issues affecting the company. His main responsibility was to strategize and protect the commercial interests of Digi in the various business ventures undertaken by the company.

Before joining the corporate sector, he was practicing as a partner in a legal firm in Kuala Lumpur and corporate work was his main passion. He had substantial experience advising multinational companies on their international joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, MBO’s US style of limited partnership ventures and on technology transfer between companies. He was then sent to the firm’s branch in Labuan, also to handle the firm’s corporate portfolio and successfully acquired international exposure liaising with clients from Brunei, Thailand, Indonesia, Italy and United States.
